Judgement – real or imagined. It’s a fairly omnipresent projection in the therapy room. Parental disapproval, internalised bad objects, negative self-talk.. all contributes to the avoidance of eye contact.
And sometimes, upon occasion, shrinkies just can’t keep that note of disapproval out of their voice, no matter how hard they try.
