This one is almost a direct illustration for a stack of research papers I was reading on the role of the therapist in the room – and the essential impossibility of achieving anonymity/blank screen (and yes, some still try no matter what y’all say..). Firstly, there is still the physical person of the therapist (how they dress), the environment (how they decided to decorate their office) and probably most importantly, everything they carry about inside them, however well-analysed or processed.
I guess that’s where the countertransference comes in. What fun! Let’s just say, some therapists’ towers of boxes are less… stable.. than others.
