Ha! Most therapists have a woeful amount of info about them on the net, I find (after snooping the name of mine and others). This is because a number of them, particularly those with less than salutary pasts (i.e. “NORMAL” people) change their names when they become therapists.
Another TUBE or FALSE fact brought to you by Prozacville!
I suspect you may be looking in the wrong places my friend.. there’s an art to it.. ahem..
I wouldn’t mind learning this art, given my therapist is one of those with woefully little to find…
Oh I wish!
Would be good huh? I love the google un-send function.. I just need one that is life-based.. but then I get visions of that movie with the remote control.. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0389860/
There would end up being some huge moral life lesson.. probably based around transference…
right now I’d just be satisfied with an ‘undo send’ on the email … sent one to T on self care assessments, I got in class, last night … see her today, wishing I’d not sent email.
I can always hope she doesn’t check her email right?
Brilliant beyond brilliant idea. Sign me up for this. ;)
As soon as I have the patent ;)
Haha, I love this one! I too have a psychologist who doesn’t seem to have a lot of information about herself on the internet.
Thank you :)
I wish more would focus on presenting a useful, informative, professional persona rather than carelessly scattering personal information across the interwebs…
Therapists who don’t have much info fall into two categories:
a) Incredibly boring and/or paper-bound folk who just haven’t *done* much in the virtual realm
b) Incredibly interesting folk who use a host of pseudonyms (Prozacville, Myheartismadeofgravy etc)to hide from clients their *true identities*
c) Incredibly interesting folk who change their names to something anodyne for their therapeutic work.
Now which one would I fit into?
Love,
John Smith
I clearly fall into the category of people who CAN’T COUNT! When I say two, I might mean THREE. Or six hundred.
Yes.. counting to two #fail :)
regarding c)
Don’t you have to practice under the name which you are qualified by? therefore you would have to change your name legally by deed poll before commencing training… hmm…
I’ve googled my therapist. he’s got some good stuff going on-he even asked me to google him/see what I thought etc.. He’s super cool and good. But, all my savings will be going to him-so he better damn be good!
Sweet :)
I worry about all the therapeutic relationships that may be completely devastated by a quick browse across Facebook or a couple of searches on Google…
I am doing my best to make sure that certain real life people don’t stumble across my online activity. As for an undo button, I’ll pass. The ethics, logistics and everything would be too confusing plus people would just end up in ‘Undo Button Addicts Anonymous’ and ‘Rehab From Artificial Re-do-mania’…
But james just think of all the new therapeutic approaches that could be dreamed up.. Ahem I mean developed.. To combat the new addictions!
The world keeps turning Clayton.. You cant stand in the way of progress or WGs quest for world domination via the creation of the impossible :)
“Right, you’ve made a mistake. Now why is that a bad thing? Sit with it. Accept it. Why do you feel the need to press that button, eh? You don’t want to, do you? No. Of course you don’t. Doesn’t it feel better to let the mistakes sit there?”
“NOOOOOOOO! NOOOOOO! GRAAAAAAARGH!” *bites therapists head off, presses the magic undo button and takes a deep breath of relief…*
LOL! Not sure I know how to draw “bites therapists head off” :)
Bites therapist’s head off? => for inspiration, check for pics of a female praying mantis with her mate. Or maybe Godzilla movies?
now there’s an idea… ;)
having spent lots of time on both sides of the office…
we know ;)
or, maybe i only know because of the considerable amount of time spent in the hot seat….
although, my own therapists have also spent lots of time in the hot seat…
